Keto Day 67 – Check-in Long Overdue

Feeling: Awesome!

219.2 -5 -18.4 -32 79.2

I’ve been a little remiss in posting on the site, even though I’ve been keeping up with my daily journal writing like clockwork.

I’m finally in the 210s, hitting 219.2 at this morning’s weigh-in.  I’m now weighing twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays.  I find that this helps me when Tuesdays are a little higher than they should be.  Less than 20 lbs to go to get back into ONEderland!  I’m very excited about that. I have a mini-goal to be in the 100s by April – I think I’ll be able to hit it just fine!

Book Review: The Changeling Chronicles

My reviews are spoiler-free, just general feelings about the book and recommendations.

I’ve been reading a lot lately, taking full advantage of Kindle Unlimited in terms of quick, decent quality books. I get my fix lately on urban fantasy and one author in particular has held my interested for several weeks.

I first found Emma L. Adams through the first book of her series, The Changeling Chronicles.  The premise of the book involved faeries (the Seelie and Unseelie kind) and magic – how could I resist?  I quickly devoured all available books in the series:

The series follows Ivy Lane, a badass lady bounty hunter working the more dangerous jobs involving faeries in her city. She’s aided by her roommate, who is also a witch, Isabel; and tormented by the leader of the Mage Lords.

What I really enjoyed about these books, and Emma’s writing in general, is the strong, female lead character. Ivy is strong in her own right, both mentally and physically. Her past has shaped her future, and she’s had a very hard life. She doesn’t let that harden her though – she still cares for her friends, innocents, and what is right. She is unselfish and very human, though superhuman struggles have been forced upon her.

I thoroughly enjoyed each story line, thrilled that any romantic arc was complementary to the main story without overpowering it. Each book was a refreshing read that added more strength to each of the characters, especially Ivy. I am anxiously waiting the next (final?) installment in this series – Faerie Curse. It is supposed to be published this month (November 2016).

If you enjoy urban fantasy, I highly recommend this series. They are a delightful read that will leave you wanting more.  In fact, when I saw that the fifth book wasn’t out yet when I finished book 4, I jumped into another series by Emma L. Adams – The Alliance Series.  But that’s for another review!

“The Little Flame” Funding Project

Kids Need to Read is an organization that has been near and dear to me for years. I helped them out as webmaster once upon a time, and I still love to keep track of how they’ve blossomed from a small group of awesome folks to a wonderful and busy organization.

I know not many people see my blog but every little bit helps. Sean and I will be contributing before the project is over, and I encourage you to contribute if you can, even if it’s just $5.
