On my birthday
// May 23rd, 2009 // Musings
Today is my birthday. 27 years old today, I am. Kinda hard to believe. In a way, I feel much younger, though I can’t explain why. I guess it’s because I haven’t really done much in the last several years, but that’s about to change. The change started with my Healthy Giving charity fundraiser that also ended today. I lost 18 pounds since January 23rd and raised $715 for The Kids Need to Read Foundation in the process. Pretty sweet, huh? I think so. Of course, I’m not going to stop living healthy just because the pledge drive is over. No, ma’am! That was just the beginning, the catalyst. I don’t ever want to go back to where I was, now that I see the potential of what I can be.
27. Almost 30. Eeek! Don’t want to think to deeply about that. Hah! I guess it helps that even at 27, I still get carded for alcohol (not that I buy much). The more humorous example would be getting carded at Walmart when buying White-Out. What the heck are the “kids” doing these days that White-Out would be tagged as a “not for minors” item? LOL Stupid kids.
27. Old enough to refer to college folks as “kids” HAH!
27. So I may be getting older, but will I ever “grow up”? I hope not. I hope I remain forever a kid at heart and a geek on the surface! My current geeky preoccupation revolves around the revamped Doctor Who series on the BBC. No, I haven’t watched any of the old Doctors (yet) but I plan to. Though I’ve only seen the 9th and 10th Doctor, I have to say #10 is my fave. David Tennant was so totally “The Doctor” while on screen, it’s unbelievable. My friends are quite aware of my preoccupation. In fact, many of their birthday wishes today consisted of photos of my favorite Doctor. I’ll share a few with you.
These two are from my friend Hels from Kids Need to Read.

My friend and boss Anne from Can’t Stop the Serenity made me this image so I can always have The Doctor with me. I laughed for a good 30 minutes straight after getting this!

So yes, I hope I forever remain a geek. I can’t imagine living life any other way! There’s nothing better than sitting down and watching a good episode of Doctor Who with my daughter, mygeek-in-training.
Another year gone, another stretching out in front of me with so much potential it makes me want to sing.

Glad you had a good birthday. I wish you a very happy belated Birthday. I hope one day we get to meet.
I’m glad you had a wonderful birthingday and enjoyed the card. I giggled a lot while making it.
BOSS? Ewwww that doesn’t sound fun at all. I like being your friend though.
Here’s me wishing you a new year of healthy geekful life, with many more good things to come. ::wishes hard::
WHOOT! And {{{hugs}}}
